Slain Indian-origin woman’s missing husband returns
January 28th, 2011 - 6:45 pm ICT by IANSWellington, Jan 28 (IANS) Having remained at the centre of a manhunt by security officials, the missing husband of an Indian-origin woman, who was burned to death last week, returned from Fiji Friday. Twentynine-year-old Diwesh Kumar Sharma was accompanying his four-year-old son, the Dominion Post reported Fiji police spokesman Atunaisa Sokomuri as saying, and added that he had left the country voluntarily.
Sokomuri told Stuff.co.nz from Fiji’s capital city Suva that Sharma flew out of Fiji along with his son Friday morning on an Air New Zealand flight.
Diwesh’s wife Ranjeeta Sharma, 28, was found dead on the side of the road last week in Huntly, a town in the Waikato region of the North Island in New Zealand.
Her husband and son had left for Fiji soon after in the incident. They were taken into custody two days ago.
The pair are believed to have been on a flight that landed mid-afternoon, but it could not be confirmed, the daily’s report stated.
