May 29th, 2010 - 11:50 pm ICT by IANSGaza, May 29 (IANS) At least six Palestinians were killed Saturday when a gas canister exploded in an underground tunnel in Rafah town on the Gaza-Egypt border, officials said.
The canister was being smuggled to Gaza Saturday afternoon when it exploded, which led the tunnel to cave in.
Two workers were found dead by rescue teams inside the tunnel. Four people found inside the tunnel were reported to a hospital in Rafah, where they died of suffocation, Xinhua reported citing hospital officials.
At least 146 Palestinians have been killed in tunnel cave-ins in the passages under the Gaza-Egypt border, Gaza right groups claimed.
