Six mutilated bodies found in Mexico
June 8th, 2010 - 12:32 am ICT by IANSCancun (Mexico), June 7 (IANS/EFE) Police have found bodies of six people, including two women and a child, whose hearts had been removed in Mexico’s Cancun city, officials said Monday.
The bodies were found in a field in El Roble, a community on the outskirts of Cancun, Mexico’s top tourist destination, the Quintana Roo state Attorney General’s office said.
A woman who found a bloodstained mattress near a well called the police. The bodies had wound marks on the left side through which the hearts were removed, police said.
The incisions were made after the victims were dead, the coroner’s office said.
Police have not been able to identify the victims or come up with a motive, but they suspect the killings were carried out as part of a ritual.
Mexican drug traffickers often mutilate the bodies of their victims, decapitating or dismembering them.
