Six killed in London high-rise fire
July 4th, 2009 - 5:24 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )London, July 4 (DPA) Six people died Friday in a blaze that struck a 12-storey apartment house in south London.
The dead included three children, rescue officials said. About 30 people were rescued from the building. Twelve people, including several children, were sent to hospital.
The origins of the fire, which broke out in the stairwell between the fourth and 11th floor, were not clear. The fire spread rapidly and trapped residents.
It took 100 firefighters several hours to bring the fire under control.
