Six killed in Iraq attacks
January 23rd, 2012 - 5:03 am ICT by IANSBaghdad, Jan 23 (IANS) At least six people were killed in gunfire and bomb attacks in Iraq, Xinhua reported.
Gunmen attacked a check-post jointly manned by policemen and fighters of a government-backed council in a village near Baquba, the provincial capital of Diyala, around 65 km from Baghdad, police said.
The fight resulted in the death of two council fighters and a policeman, while two attackers were also killed.
In Nineveh province, a booby-trapped car detonated in the provincial capital of Mosul, around 400 km from Baghdad, killing a civilian and wounding three people including two policemen, police told Xinhua.
