Kabul, Aug 19 (IANS) Six people, including two police officers, were killed and five others were injured Friday in two suicide bombings and a shootout near the house of Afghanistan’s First Vice President Mohammad Qasim Fahim in Kabul, Xinhua reported.

The first explosion occurred around 5.30 a.m. followed by another one 20 minutes later. One of the attackers blew up his explosives-laden car, while the second one detonated his suicide vest, killing two police officers and the bombers, a police officer told Xinhua requesting anonymity.

Two more attackers were shot dead, the officer added. A police officer and four foreign nationals were injured.

Fahim’s house is close to the office of United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, the Indian consulate and the Kabul Intercontinental Hotel, which was the target of a deadly terror attack on June 28 in which scores of people were killed and injured.
