Six dead in China building collapse
March 29th, 2011 - 12:56 am ICT by IANSBeijing, March 28 (IANS) At least six people died and 15 were injured when a building under construction collapsed in southwest China Monday, officials said.
The four-storey building collapsed in Yangguan village near the provincial capital of Guiyang in Guizhou province, Xinhua reported.
The building was to house a factory for plastic products. Initial investigations showed that the construction was unauthorised.
The construction had been twice ordered to be halted but the orders were ignored, an official said.
The owner and the contractor have been taken into police custody.
