London, Dec 3(ANI): Irish singer and musician Bono has dismissed critics of his own tax-fleeing fortune while he tackles world poverty.

The U2 frontman has joined Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to launch ‘Lace Up, Save Lives’ - a partnership between Nike and Bono’s charity RED, where products sold by Apple, Dell, Gap and others help raise money for African projects.

“You can still contribute even if you are not as fortunate as I am. I’ve been over-rewarded for what I do, and I’m trying to give my time and my resources, but… I’m a rich rock star, so shoot me,” The Herald Sun quoted Bono, as saying.

Questioning of the star’s motives comes three years after U2 moved their business out of Ireland after the Irish Government introduced a new tax-free cap. The band has since then saved an estimated 30 million dollars in avoided taxes. (ANI)
