Lucknow, Dec 7 (IANS) Terming the Nov 26 terror strike in Mumbai as different from other such attacks, Union Minister of Science and Technology Kapil Sibal Sunday laid stress on “fighting terrorism globally” and urged political parties to stop politicising the issue.”Terrorism has now become a global problem. To weed it out, we should all get united to wage a war against the ‘global challenge’,” he said here Sunday at a function organised by the Biotech Park.

Sibal said the terror attacks in Mumbai were different from what the world has seen so far.

“Unlike majority of the past terror strikes that were impersonal, it was for the first time that there was an open display of violence”, he noted.

On ways to combat terrorism, Sibal stressed it was important to fight the ideology “inculcated in some of the unfortunate minds that violence is the only way to move forward”.

The minister also called upon the political outfits to stop politicising the issue of terrorism.

“The Mumbai attacks have shaken us all. It is not the time to politicise the issue and gain some political points. We all should join our hands and come forward to combat terrorism,” said Sibal.

At least 172 people were killed and 248 injured when terrorists struck at the country’s financial capital.
