Shot US Congresswoman Giffords to attend husband’s shuttle launch on April 19
March 11th, 2011 - 1:33 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Mar 11 (ANI): Gabrielle Giffords, the US congresswoman who is recovering from serious injuries after being shot in Tucson, would attend next month’s launch of her husband’s space shuttle Endeavour, her spokeswoman has said.
Giffords was shot in the head at a supermarket in Tucson, Arizona, two months ago and has been recovering in Texas.
The news that she will attend the launch came on the same day Jared Loughner, accused of shooting her and killing six and wounding 13 others at a political event, was arraigned on 49 new federal charges.
NASA is scheduled to launch the shuttle April 19, with Giffords’ husband Mark Kelly as its commander.
Giffords has made an exceptional progress, with reports saying that she even sang “Happy Birthday” to her husband a few weeks ago. (ANI)
