Shooting In Detroit Police Station Leaves Four Officers Injured

Detroit ShootingDetroit, Jan 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Four police officers were left with various degrees of wounds after a gunman open fired at a police station in Detroit over the weekend. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon after the gunman entered the police station from the front door and started firing indiscriminately before he was shot and killed by the cops. Following the incident, the security measures in the police department of the city is being evaluated with police officials claiming that security procedures might be beefed up in the wake of the shooting.

While revealing details of the incident, Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said in a news conference that was held later, that when the 38-year-old gunman went on a rampage at the city’s 6th Precinct station, a scene of ‘utter chaos and pandemonium’ ensued although throughout the ordeal, the officers maintained their calm and tackled the situation in the best possible manner. While talking about those officers who have sustained injuries in the attack, the police chief said that all the four wounded cops are out of danger although a police commander is reported to have received severe injuries.

In the press conference, Ralph Godbee said that the identity of the gunman would not be released to the media as yet while adding that a probe has been initiated to ascertain the motive behind the attack. The Detroit police chief also reiterated that in the wake of Sunday’s incident as well as the Arizona shooting rampage that killed six while injuring many more few weeks, the police department has undertaken the mission to assess the security procedures.
