Shooters Narang, Rajput fail to qualify for 3 position

Beijing, Aug 17 (IANS) India’s shooting campaign came to an end as riflemen Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajput failed to qualify for the final round of the men’s 50 metres 3-position event at the Olympics here Sunday. Narang finished 13th with a score of 1167 points (394 prone, 389 standing, 384 kneeling) while Rajput was a distant 26th with 1162 points (395 prone, 380 standing, 387 kneeling) in the qualification round at the Beijing Shooting Range.

Slovak Rajmond Devebec, who holds the world record of 1186 points, topped the qualifying rounds but was nowhere near his best. Devebec shot 1176 (399 prone, 386 standing, 391 kneeling) in the qualifiers on the last day of shooting competition .
