Seven injured in explosion at Lebanon UN base
May 13th, 2010 - 12:40 am ICT by IANSBeirut, May 12 (DPA) An explosion Wednesday inside an arms depot at UN Interim Force (UNIFIL) base in southern Lebanon injured at least seven.
Initial reports said the base is manned by French troops.
UNIFIL spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Naresh Bhatt said that a ammunition depot exploded during a routine military exercise in the southern town of Al-Ttyri.
“Several soldiers were wounded in the blast; one of them is in critical condition,” Bhatt said.
UNIFIL has launched an immediate investigation into the incident, he added.
