London, July 14(ANI): Former ‘Golden Girl’ of the BBC, Selina Scott, has prepared a dossier accusing the corporation of “blatant and malign” sexism and ageism against older women.

Scott has sent the report to BBC Trust chairman, Sir Michael Lyons, and believes that it will trigger “nothing short of a revolution within Television Centre”.

“Until we conducted our report I was not aware of how pervasive and institutionalized this disease had become at the BBC… it’s insidious, cowardly and unworthy of the great traditions of a public broadcaster,” Scott wrote in an article for The Daily Telegraph.

“If the BBC really believes it is part of the national conversation it is a pretty dumbed-down conversation we’re having,” she added.

The dossier was compiled in conjunction with Age UK, the charity for older people, and concludes that an obsession with youth has left women over 50 redundant.

During her time at the BBC, the 59-year-old was one of the star names, but her career ended in 2008 when she sued Channel Five for ageism. (ANI)
