Secret Jackie Kennedy interviews to be revealed
April 14th, 2010 - 5:07 pm ICT by ANILondon, April 14 (ANI): A series of interviews given by former U.S. First Lady Jackie Kennedy just months after her husband’s assassination will be published in 2011, shedding light on John F. Kennedy’s plans for a second term to family life in the White House.
The book is based on 6 1/2 hours of recorded conversations she had with Arthur M. Schlesinger, a Pulitzer Prize-winning US historian and chronicler of the Kennedy family, in the spring of 1964.
The tapes were sealed according to her wishes, publisher Hyperion said in a statement issued with the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.
Caroline Kennedy, the couple’s sole surviving child, will edit and write the introduction of the book, which will be published in September next year.
“My mother’s passion for history guided and informed her work in the White House,” the Telegraph quoted Caroline as saying in a statement.
“She believed in my father, his vision for America, and in the art of politics. She felt it was important to share her knowledge and excitement with future generations.
“It is a privilege for me to honour the memory of my parents by making this unique history available,” she added. (ANI)
