Scotland’s taxpayer-funded job centres offering careers in porn
May 12th, 2010 - 4:29 pm ICT by ANILondon, May 12 (ANI): Scotland’s unemployed have expressed their shock at an official state-run Internet site releasing an ad for kinky webcam stars.
The blurb on the Jobcentre Plus page describes how the X-rated role demands sitting naked behind a camera, talking dirty, and “other activities”.
“When I read the job description I couldn’t believe it,” the Scottish Sun quoted job-hunter Robert Joyce, 55, an unemployed bank worker, of Edinburgh, as saying.
“It’s not the sort of thing you would expect to see in a Job Centre,” she said.
Phone-sex company Faceclick used the job site to advertise for men, women and couples to perform from home for 100 pounds a day.
The steamy ad read: “Duties involve explicit sexual dialogue and require the successful applicant to be nude/semi nude.”
It described the post as: “Informal chatting via webcam, along with any other activities you feel comfortable with.” Faceclick’s own site lists pervy categories like fetish and domination.
“It is sleazy. But there are a lot of people struggling just now,” a female job seeker, who did not want to be named, said.
A spokeswoman for Rape Crisis Scotland has slammed the adverts as “inappropriate”.
“Adverts like this validate the notion that sexually exploitative ‘work’ is an acceptable career,” she stated.
Government-funded Jobcentre Plus banned all ‘adult’ ads until a legal challenge by sexy undies firm Ann Summers in 2003.
“We are reviewing existing policy,” a spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions said on May 11. (ANI)
