t1largnycsnowgiJan 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Refusing to take any chances, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has issued out an emergency after the National Weather Service predicted of a massive snow storm likely to hit the state on Wednesday. It has only been a few weeks when a blizzard shook “The Big Apple” during which there was no declaration of emergency. The previous snow storm had a major devastating effect on the region as a result of which the Mayor this is not in a mood to take any risk.

The weather emergency was issued out on Tuesday when the Mayor requested the mass not to tread out of their homes. The blizzard that a few weeks back lashed against the city had seen the Mayor giving out late responses as a result of which he drew forth the criticism of many. According to sources, the National Weather Service said that two major low pressure systems which are all set to join the middle of the Atlantic coast will be the main reason behind the snow storm which will be affecting the city on Wednesday. Meteorologists said that the snow storm is expected to dump around 8 to 14 inches of snow on the region.

Following the weather threat and the declaration of the state emergency some of the schools on Tuesday announced for closings on Wednesday. While St. John’s University, Queens and Stony Brook University, Long Island have already announced to remain closed on Wednesday many have still kept guardians waiting for the final confirmation of the news. The emergency declaration also saw the cancellations of several flights at the John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia and Newark International.
