School bus driver arrested for texting while driving

Tox Town, Mar 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 47-year-old female school bus driver has been arrested after she was caught on a surveillance video texting while driving. Officials were astounded when they found that in a period of just over a month the woman sent and received a total of 1,068 text messages. She sent and received the text messages between April 6, 2010 and May 15, 2010.

The driver, Evelyn Guzman, reported herself to the police last Wednesday. What makes the whole incident disturbing is that Evelyn was having a bus full of school children when she sent and received the text messages.

More disturbing was the circumstances that led to the arrest of Evelyn. Police first arrested the daughter of Evelyn, Jennifer Davila, for assaulting a special needs child on the bus of Evelyn. 24-year-old Jennifer was the bus monitor on Evelyn’s car.

During the course of the investigations, police stumbled on the surveillance video that showed Evelyn making and receiving text messages while driving.

Evelyn has been released on a $1,500 bail bond. She has been charged with reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor and is due in court on the 25th of March.
