London, Nov 26 (ANI): Sarah Palin has slammed Michelle Obama for her campaign against childhood obesity and dismissed Barbara Bush as one of the “blue bloods” trying to fix the political system.

In a radio interview Palin, the 2008 vice-presidential nominee who is considering a 2012 White House bid, said Michelle’s anti-obesity push reflected a belief that parents can’t be trusted “to make decisions for their own children”.

“Instead of a government thinking that they need to take over, make decisions for us according to some politician or politician’s wife’s priority, just leave us alone, get off our back, and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions, and then our country gets back on the right track,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

Palin also hit out at Barbara Bush, First Lady from 1989 to 1993 when her husband President George Bush Snr was in office, and mother of President George W. Bush.

Last week, Barbara said of Palin: “‘I think she’s very happy in Alaska, and I hope she stays there.”

Palin agreed many such comments by senior Republican showed that party “elites” wanted to “kneecap” her.

“I don’t want to sort of concede that we have to get used to this kind of thing, because I don’t think the majority of Americans want to put up with the blue-bloods,” she said.

“And I say it with all due respect, because I love the Bushes, but the blue bloods who want to pick and chose their winners instead of allowing competition to pick and choose the winners. I don’t know if that kind of stuff is planned out but it is what it is, we deal with it, and as I say we forge ahead and we keep doing what we’re doing,” she added. (ANI)
