Dec 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) 12 year old teenager Brittany Mae Smith of Virginia had gone missing a week ago. She has been recovered on Friday after a lady identified her in a San Francisco shopping mall along with her alleged abductor Jeffrey Scott Easley. A video released by police shows that the two are shopping inside Walmart. However, the girl’s mother Tina Smith, supposedly Jeffrey Scott Easley’s girlfriend was found dead on the same day inside her southwestern Virginia home.
Investigations are going on and police have refused to say if they are considering 32 year old Jeffrey Scott Easley as the hand behind the death. However, they seem to be quite sure that Tina Smith’ death is a case of homicide. Roanoke County Police Chief Ray Lavinder said in a that ever since the two have been found from the San Francisco store the Brittany Mae Smith is in constant touch with her family while Jeffrey Scott Easley has been taken into police custody and is in San Francisco County Jail. The video released by investigators has been taken from the one captured in the store surveillance video at the Walmart store in Salem. A lady who was aware about the abduction after she had seen them on a cable news program was quick enough to identify them. It was around 2 pm. She immediately informed police about it.
The reason of death is being probed into. Ray Lavinder said that Brittany Mae Smith’ recovery has given them a huge sense of relief. Her family is experiencing the same. Her grandfather Liz Dyer said that they were really glad to find her safe. However, police are claiming that till now they are not sure as to how the pair went for a cross country trip.
