San Francisco, September 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Police waited for a daredevil in San Francisco on the top floor of a 58 story tower as he slowly scaled the building with the help of suction cups. After reaching the top the man unfurled the American flag, only to be arrested sometime later with the charges of trespassing and committing public nuisance. For some the man is a legend already for the unique idea of scaling the exterior of the building in spite of the repeated warning by the authorities.

A police officer at the location said that Dan Goodwin, 54, will have to go to court for causing the commotion downtown. He added that it was initially thought to be a suicide attempt. Dan Goodwin started climbing the tower at 1 pm in the afternoon and climbed to the top by 5:20 pm. Police were called to the spot after he scaled the fourth floor from the outside. After the 7th floor the firefighters became unable to reach him anymore and it was only a wait for the authorities to nab him at the top.

The four long hours, while the ’skyscraperman’ climbed, onlookers gathered on the ground to watch the antics. Several buses were diverted from the street and the onlookers even applauded and cheered when he waved the American flag from the top. Reports suggest that Dan Goodwin climbed the building to raise awareness about the lack of safety of the skyscrapers. He explained that everyday thousands of people work in the buildings which are unaccessible for the firefighters after the 7th floor. Many feel that he did make his point with the stunt.
