tylerDec 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The suicide case of Tyler Clementi took a new turn on this week when the parents of the deceased 18-year-old made it known that they are considering taking legal actions against the school. Joseph and Jane Clementi, whose son took his own life after his sexual tryst with another man was broadcast online, filed a notice late last week that they might sue Rutgers University for their lack of efforts in preventing the unfortunate demise of their teenager son. However, in response to the notice, the New Jersey based university issued a statement in which it denied any kind of responsibility in the suicide of the 18-year-old.

After acknowledging the notice, Rutgers University said in the statement that they do share the Clementi family’s loss for their son who was a member of their community as well. The statement also read that although the university understands the reactions of the family to question whether someone or some institution might have been responsible for the death of their son, it was no way responsible for the suicide of the first-year student. The response of Rutgers University comes on the heels of the legal notice filed by Tyler Clementi’s parents in which said that they might seek damages from the university in the death of their son.

In September, the body of Tyler Clementi was found from Hudson River, about more a week after he took his own life by jumping off the George Washington Bridge. The 18-year-old’s action was sparked from the humiliation he felt after two of his fellow students recorded his sexual encounter with a man and streamed it online.
