Russian train crash feared to be a terrorist act
November 28th, 2009 - 1:50 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Moscow, Nov. 28 (ANI): A Russian train derailment, which killed 25 people and injured 55 others on Friday, is being feared to be a terrorist act.
Sky News quoted Russian law enforcement sources, as saying: “It could have been caused by a terrorist act.”
According to the report, the accident happened around 9.30pm on a commuter train heading from Moscow.
“The accident occurred on the busy line between Russia’s two biggest cities,” the report added.
The intercity train was about halfway (180 miles) into the journey when the last four carriages derailed.
“Unconfirmed eyewitness accounts have talked about seeing a crater and hearing a large explosion just before the train derailed,” the report said.
Meanwhile, a mobile field hospital was being flown to the area, near Bologoye.
In August 2007, the same train was a victim of a terror attack from Chechen separatists when about 60 people were injured. (ANI)
