Moscow, Nov 29 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will be in India for a one-day visit Monday ahead of President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to the country in December.
Lavrov will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.
Bilateral relations have blossomed in recent years, with India being one of the biggest importers of Russian military hardware.
In 2009, Russia-India trade reached the $7.5 billion mark. The countries plan to take the figure to $20 billion by 2015.
The biggest joint projects between the two countries today are the construction of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu and exploration of the Sakhalin-1 oil and gas field in Russia with participation of India’s state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
