Russian court clears minor from repaying mum’s debt
May 11th, 2012 - 5:43 am ICT by IANSMoscow, May 11 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A court in Moscow has ruled to clear a nine-year-old boy from repaying a debt of 561,000 rubles ($19,000) that he inherited from his late mother.
The court, last month, had received a lawsuit from Alexei Panikorovsky who sought to collect from Ivan Chaplygin the money that he owed under a loan made to the Chaplygin’s mother.
The court has ruled to “refuse Panikorovsky from collecting money from Chaplygin”, Judge Lyubov Vinogradova said.
Polina Kleimenova, a spokeswoman for the court, earlier said there was nothing illegal in such a lawsuit, although such cases were very rare.
