Russian cargo spacecraft takes off for ISS
April 28th, 2011 - 1:32 am ICT by IANSMoscow, April 28 (IANS) A Russian cargo spaceship took off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan Wednesday for the International Space Station (ISS), the Mission Control Centre said.
This was the second launch this year of the supply spacecraft Progress M-10M to the ISS. It delivers 2.6 tonnes of cargo to the space station, Xinhua reported.
Besides water, food, fuel and oxygen, the vessel also took drosophila flies and plant seeds for scientific experiments, Russian officials said.
The cargo ship is scheduled to dock with the ISS April 29.
Russia plans to send six Progress ships to the space station in 2011.
