Russian beats up cop on girlfriend’s request
May 12th, 2012 - 11:26 am ICT by IANSMoscow, May 12 (IANS) A man in Russia has been detained for beating up a traffic policeman who dared to reprimand his girlfriend for riding a motorbike without a helmet, RIA Novosti reported.
The young woman, whose name was withheld, came across the off-duty officer while driving to a store in Kraskovo village Thursday, said a police spokesperson.
On being reprimanded by the officer, the woman called up her friends to complain about his conduct. Upon arriving, one of them in his early 20s beat up the policeman, the report said.
The attacker, whose name was not released, was detained within hours. A native of North Ossetia, he was held in the Moscow region.
Police are looking into the incident, which was documented on the store’s surveillance cameras, but have not opened a criminal case so far, the spokesman said.
