Innsbruck (Austria), June 19 (DPA) Russia Wednesday became the final team to qualify for the Euro 2008 quarter-finals after beating Sweden 2-0 in a Group D match played in Innsbruck. The Swedes went into the game needing just a draw to join group winners Spain in the round of the last eight, but Guus Hiddink’s side completely dominated proceedings.
Roman Pavlyuchenko gave Russia the lead in the 24th minute, while Andrey Arshavin, who was playing his first game at the finals after serving a suspension, scored a second five minutes after the restart.
Spain, who came from behind to beat Greece 2-1 in Salzburg, won the group with nine points, while Russia have six. Sweden finished with three points, with the defending champions Greece last after three defeats in their three matches.
Russia will face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, while Spain face Italy.
