Dhaka, Feb 10 (Xinhua) Dhaka and Moscow have expressed their willingness to sign a free trade agreement (FTA), Bangladesh’s foreign ministry said Tuesday.
The volume of Russia-Bangladesh trade was at present $250 million and there was opportunity to expand trade by signing an FTA, Russian Ambassador Gennady Trotsenko to Dhaka was quoted as saying in a meeting here with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dipu Moni.
Moni said that Bangladesh was also interested in signing such an agreement, the press release said..
The Russian ambassador expressed his country’s keen interest in supporting Bangladesh in developing its power sector, the release said.
Trotsenko said his country’s was willing to help Bangladesh expand capacity of a power plant in Siddhirganj, near the capital city Dhaka..
