Sydney, Jan 18(ANI): Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is reportedly re-arranging his schedule to find a way to have a beer with Prince William of Britain.
Rudd was originally not scheduled to meet the Prince, but with US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton cancelling her visit to Australia to be in earthquake-hit Haiti, he found himself with some spare time, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Earlier, Rudd had told mediapersons in Denmark that he was hoping to have a beer with the young royal when he visited Australia.
The second in line to the British throne, who is representing grandmother Queen Elizabeth II on his first official overseas trip, will arrive in Sydney on Tuesday, before he is whisked away to meet Governor-General Quentin Bryce at Admiralty House.
He then has a busy afternoon visiting a Redfern community centre and later meeting New South Wales Governor Marie Bashir.
“During his visit, Prince William will focus on his core interests of supporting servicemen and women, helping young people fulfil their potential, and sustainable development in the light of climate change,” the Prime Minister’s Office had earlier said in a statement.
“The prince will also use the visit to learn more about local indigenous issues and visit the bushfire-ravaged countryside in Victoria,” it added.
It will be Prince William’s first visit to Australia as an adult, he was only one-year-old when he last came in 1983 with his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales. (ANI)
