Ronald Reagan GE Tape Gifted To Former First Lady Nancy Reagan

Simi Valley, March 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Wednesday the recently restored “General Electric Theater” tapes were handed over to the former first lady Nancy Reagan. The gift was handed over to the former first lady as a part of the two year celebration of the 100th birthday of the late president Ronald Reagan. The former president Ronald Reagan was born in February 6, 1911. General Electric, with whom the late former President shared a long term relationship had already planned to sponsor a Ronald Reagan Centennial Festivities, in which it would spend around $15 million.
The 280 episodes of the “General Electric Theater” tapes which were thought to be damaged and lost for many years were discovered recently at the General Electric/NBC Universal archives. The authorities then had restored the precious tapes to a condition which can be broadcast. The tapes which date between 1954 and 1962 were restored for use in the Simi Valley Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. The tapes record the then actor Ronald Reagan’s national tour as the goodwill ambassador of General Electric to the company’s plants.
The tribute that is being paid to the late former president Ronald Reagan by the GE was welcomed by Nancy Reagan who said that the tapes show how the former president was encouraged by the workers of all the plants who had according to Nancy Reagan helped Ronald Reagan to enter the world of public sector latter in his life. As part of the two-year celebration of the late president’s birthday, the GE is spending money reportedly to revamp a museum. The GE will spend $5 million for the Reagan Presidential Foundation which will support according to reports the GE-Reagan Scholars Program.
