Riot attacks won’t stop Prince Charles from attending public engagements
December 12th, 2010 - 5:11 pm ICT by ANILondon, Dec 12 (ANI): The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have said that they would carry on with “business as usual” despite being attacked by students over increased university tuition fees earlier this week.
The Telegraph quoted a royal aide as saying that both Prince Charles and the Duchess would remain as “visible” as ever during public engagements.
“Their default position is to get out there and get on with the job. It is absolutely business as usual,” he added.
Yesterday, officers had issued photographs of 14 individuals from last Thursday’s protests, some of whom were wanted in connection with the attack on the royal convoy in Regent Street.
According to royal sources, the couple has full confidence in the ability of the police to bring those responsible for the attack to justice, and are “extremely supportive” of their police protection officers, and blamed the incident on the rioters, and not the police.
Earlier this week, protesters clashed with police and attacked Prince Charles’s limousine as riots raged in the heart of London after MPs voted to triple university tuition fees.
The clashes, described as the worst on the streets of the British capital since the 1990 poll tax riot, involved tens of thousands of people. (ANI)
