Rhode Island man sentenced for being a felon in possession of a firearm
March 20th, 2010 - 12:50 am ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND (BNO NEWS) – A Rhode Island man was sentenced Friday for being a felon in possession of a firearm, prosecutors said.
Jarrod Cole, 28, of Providence, Rhode Island, was located by members of the Providence Police Department Violent Crimes Task after receiving information of his whereabouts. The information stated he was traveling as a passenger in a gold colored Hyundai, and after being sighted standing next to the vehicle, police officers approached Cole, seized a loaded .357 caliber revolver, and arrested him immediately.
Cole was indicted on June 22, 2009, and he was sentenced to five years imprisonment and three years’ supervised release.
