Report: Several killed after apartment blast in the Netherlands
December 6th, 2010 - 7:57 pm ICT by BNO NewsALPHEN AAN DEN RIJN, NETHERLANDS (BNO NEWS) — Several people were killed on early Monday afternoon when a large explosion rocked an apartment building in the Netherlands, local media reported.
The explosion happened just after 1 p.m. local time at an apartment building in Alphen aan den Rijn, a town in the western Netherlands. Local broadcaster Omroep West reported that multiple people had been killed, but provided no figure.
The broadcaster said at least ten homes had been heavily damaged as a result of the blast, which sparked a major fire. The cause was not immediately known.
