Real Madrid fans confident about winning Spanish football league
March 3rd, 2009 - 11:52 am ICT by IANSMadrid, March 3 (DPA) The supporters of Spanish giants Real Madrid are very confident about the chances of their team winning a third straight Liga title.
This is the conclusion to be drawn from online opinion polls taken Monday by Madrid sports dailies Marca and AS.
Of the Marca readers, 57 percent believe that Real will win the league, with 43 percent voting for Barcelona, whilst no less than 70 percent of AS readers have opted for Real.
Three weeks ago Barca had a 12-point lead over Real, but the whites have managed to whittle this down to just four points by winning 10 straight games, whilst Barca have picked up just one point in their last three matches.
Interestingly, there are no such online polls Monday in Catalan dailies Sport and Mundo Deportivo, just laments and complaints about a Barca defence that has leaked eight goals in three games.
