Rameez Raja says Hairs umpiring will harm cricketMarch 22nd, 2008 - 10:40 am ICT by admin
Lahore, Mar 22 (ANI): After holding the Pakistan Cricket Boards (PCB) weakness at international level responsible for Australian umpire Darrel Hairs reinstatement, former Pakistan cricket team captain Rameez Raja has said that Hairs umpiring would be harmful for cricket.
Raja said that the PCB should have boycotted the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in which Hair was given permission for umpiring.
He further said that the ICC took this decision to avoid any court case.
The ICC must tell how the communication of the Australian umpire was improved, Raja questioned.
Hair was dumped from the ICC’s elite panel in November 2006 for his role at the Oval three months earlier, when Pakistan became the first team to forfeit a Test.
Pakistan had refused to return to the field in protest at being penalised for alleged ball tampering and England being awarded five extra runs. (ANI)
