Radio host murdered in Honduras
August 26th, 2010 - 9:32 am ICT by IANSTegucigalpa, Aug 26 (IANS/EFE) A journalist working in a radio station was shot dead in northern Honduras, raising the number of mediamen killed in 2010 in Honduras to nine.
Israel Zelaya Diaz, 55, was shot three times in the head in San Pedro Sula city Tuesday, police said.
The journalist’s body was found in a sugarcane field.
Diaz was one of the hosts of the “Claro y Pelado” show on a radio station in San Pedro Sula, the second-largest city in Honduras.
The journalist, who had been imprisoned a few years ago in connection with a murder, had not mentioned receiving any death threats or having any problems with anyone else, police said.
