JellyFishAustralia, Apr 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a development that has taken marine biologists and researchers by sheer surprise a school girl in Australia has managed to survive the lethal sting of Box Jellyfish. The girl named Rachael Shardlow was enjoying a swim in Calliope River. She was attacked by a venomous box jellyfish which wrapped its dangerous tentacle around her limb. Her brother was with her who said that his sister said she could not see or breathe. Hence her brother rescued her and brought her to the riverbanks and ran for help. The 10 year old girl could have died considering the fact that the box jellyfish is one of the most poisonous sea creatures and its bite can kill an adult within a few minutes. However, she survived which is being considered as a miracle.

The girl was hospitalized thereafter where she recovered. However, the jelly fish attack has not left her without some side effects. According to the doctors, she is suffering from short term memory loss now. The jellyfish attacked her ferociously and she lost consciousness after getting the sting. The marine researchers consider the girl to be extremely lucky to have survived after such extensive stings given by a venomous creature.

The girl is recovering quite well. The scar marks around her limb are still there but they are not painful as such. She does not want to venture out into rivers and plans to restrict her swimming to swimming pools. There was a possibility that the poison could damage her brain tissues resulting in loss of cognitive skills but that has not happened luckily.
