Quantas flight makes emergency landing in Sydney
April 13th, 2011 - 8:03 am ICT by ANISydney, Apr. 13 (ANI): A Qantas flight that flew out of Auckland on Wednesday, had to make an emergency landing at Sydney Airport after the crew requested a priority landing due to reported fuel leakage.
A Qantas spokesman said Flight QF50 from Auckland touched down about 7.45 a.m., after the crew made the request.
The spokesman was quoted by stuff.co.nz, as saying that there was a problem with a fuel transfer valve on the Boeing 737-800, but there was no fuel leak.
“Engineers are replacing that part and we should have the aircraft back in the air … later on this morning,” the spokesman said.
As part of procedure when a priority landing is requested, emergency services were on site, the spokesman said.
A spokesman for Sydney Airport said no other services have been effected and everything is operating as normal. (ANI)
