Quake shakes Iranian port, 270 injured
November 4th, 2009 - 3:08 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Tehran, Nov 4 (DPA) An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale shook the southern Iranian port of Bandar Abbas Wednesday and injured at least 270 people, state media reported.
The quake occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday and led to technical problems in the city such as power cuts and telephone outages, state television reported.
The US Geological Survey put the quake’s magnitude at 4.8, saying it occurred at 2.56 a.m. (2326 GMT Tuesday).
There have been no reports so far of fatalities.
