Quake measuring 5.0 Richter struck off Bismarck Sea

Bismarck SeaA moderate earthquake magnitude 5.0 Richter scale hit the Bismarck Sea on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 23:15:46 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time ) and Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 06:15:46 AM at epicenter local time as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter is 125 km (80 miles) SW of Kavieng, New Ireland, PNG, 240 km (150 miles) N of Kimbe, New Britain, PNG, 740 km (460 miles) NNE of PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea, 2685 km (1670 miles) N of BRISBANE, Queensland, Australia with the depth of 35 km (21.7 miles) set by location program and location 3.379°S, 149.985°E.

Last week, there was an earthquake with an intensity of 5.0 Richter scale which struck off New Ireland, Papua New Guinea with the depth of 35 km (21.7 miles) set by location program.
