Quake hits Afghanistan
September 18th, 2010 - 3:29 am ICT by IANSIslamabad, Sep 18 (IANS) A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan late Friday night, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported. There were no reports of damage or casualties.
The quake was also felt in Pakistan’s Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and other cities in the northwest Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and Punjab province, said Pakistan’s meteorology office.
The temblor occurred in Afghanistan at 11.51 p.m. (1921 GMT) at a depth of 199.7 km. Its epicentre was 75 km south-southeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan and 115 km northwest of Chitral, Pakistan, the USGS said.
