Qaeda Brit martyr’s online video heightens fears of terror attack on UK
March 2nd, 2011 - 5:57 pm ICT by ANILondon, March 2 (ANI): British Intelligence outfit MI5 is looking out for a British Muslim who has appeared in an online video released by al-Qaeda.
The new video projects a man, identified only as “Musa the British”, wearing an Afghan-style hat and reading a prayer book, The Telegraph reports.
He is seen sitting crossed legged on the floor against a whitewashed wall, wearing glasses and holding a set of prayer beads.
The script at the top of the screen reads: “May Allah have mercy on him,” indicating that he has died, but there is no indication whether he was shot or had died in a suicide attack.
The security services are now reportedly trying to identify him to confirm whether he was a British national, and also if he was accompanied by other British radicals in Pakistan.
The paper quoted a source as saying that the number of Britons in the tribal areas of Pakistan continues to be a concern because the al-Qaeda leadership based there is a “source of terrorist planning and when Brits are involved it would seem logical to assume that the focus of such planning could be the UK.”
The last Britons to appear in similar footage were the July 7 bombers Mohammed Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, whose suicide videos were released by al-Qaeda in 2005 and 2006. (ANI)
