PS3.9m Lottery winners dont want to overspend!May 28th, 2008 - 6:46 pm ICT by admin
London, May 28 (ANI): Money can change lifestyle but it cant change habits, not at least for the man who couldnt digest that his wife spent 100 pounds on a handbag after winning 3.9 million pounds in a lottery.
Stan Cable and his spouse Pats day was made when they scooped the lottery jackpot.
Thrilled Pat celebrated their windfall by rushing off to House of Fraser to treat herself to the Radley bag worth 100 pounds.
However, when the 50-year returned home she got a dressing down from her husband for overspending.
I got told off when I came home. Stan couldnt believe how much it cost. Weve had to save for everything and have always been careful with money. Were not used to splashing out, The Sun quoted her, as saying.
Retired council worker Stan, said: It seemed like such a lot of money. It was just my natural reaction.
I know we have lots now but for years money has been short. I cant change the way I think about it in five minutes, he added.
The couple, from Eye, Suffolk, insisted that they have no plans to splash out the money and want to save it.
They will continue to rent the two-bedroom council house that has been their home for 27 years.
Pat added: We like the area where we live and have family nearby. We wont be buying a mansion.
Besides this, their shopping list includes a caravan, a 4×4 to tow it in place of their 11-year-old Vauxhall Vectra, a new sofa and a bed for their dog.
The couple, who has no kids, have been wed for 37 years and used the same Lotto numbers 3, 11, 12, 41, 46 and 47 since the draws started 14 years ago. (ANI)
