Prince Harry to face disciplinary interview over Paki jibe
January 18th, 2009 - 2:33 pm ICT by ANI ( 1 comment )London, January 18 (ANI): Prince Harry will face disciplinary probe by his commanding officer after being accused of racism in a home video containing his Paki remark against fellow Asian cadet.
The royal had already met with Lieutenant Colonel Harry Fullerton and is expected to be formally reprimanded and reminded that the Army takes racism very seriously, reports the Telegraph.
While the Asian soldier, Captain Ahmed Raza Khan, at the centre of the row had defended Harry, insisting that hes not racist, it was alleged that General Sir Richard Dannatt, the head of the Army, was “disappointed and extremely cross” at the 24-year-olds actions.
A senior Government official further said that the use of the foul-mouthed comments had caused “immense damage” to the Army’’s endeavours to encourage more Asian recruits.
The official said: “We have been going to great lengths at trying to make inroads into the Asian community because we want them to join the armed forces. Now what will they think? The term ”Paki” is deeply abusive it is not a term of endearment.
“Prince Harry has done untold damage and the impression I get is that he doesn”t actually think he has done anything wrong.” (ANI)
