Sydney, Feb 20 (ANI): Jane Austen’s romantic novel Pride and Prejudice has been named as the Best Book Ever Written in a recent survey.
The survey conducted on more than 15,000 members of bookseller Dymocks’ booklover program has placed the timeless romance on the top out of heap.
JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy landed on the second spot with
Harper Lee’s 1960 classic To Kill a Mockingbird on the third.
Dan Browns bestseller The Da Vinci Code landed on the fourth place.
Dymocks buying manager Meredith Drake said that most of the books included in the top 101 were predictable, although there were some surprises, including Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight, released just a year ago, reports News.com.au.
The list also included contemporary novels like The Kite Runne by Khaled Hosseini along with classics like Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and children’s fiction CS Lewis The Chronicles of Narnia.
The list of best books ever written include -
