Islamabad, Oct 22 (IANS) The railway station at Pakistan’s Peshawar city plunged into darkness as its electricity supply was disconnected due to non-payment of dues.

The electricity supply to the Peshawar Cantonment railway station and labour colony was disconnected Friday.

Shaukat Afzal, an official of Peshawar Electric Supply Company, told Dawn that they disconnected four supply lines as Rs.9.7 million electricity charges for the last 13 months had not been paid.

The power company acted as part of its efforts to recover billions of rupees from arrears that are pending against public sector organisations and provincial government departments.
