London, Feb 15 (IANS) Pope Benedict XVI has won himself the first Classical BRIT nomination for his album “Alma Mater - Music From The Vatican”.
The pontiff will be competing alongside Britain’s Got Talent star Faryl Smith and X-Factor’s Rhydian Robert for best album. Also up for the gong is The Priests’ second release “Harmony” with three Catholic Fathers vying with the Pope.

The Classical BRIT Awards highlight the 10 biggest-selling classical albums of the past 12 months by nominating them for the NS&I album of the year award, the only category to be voted by public, reports mirror.co.uk.

The event, to be held in London May 13, will be hosted by Myleene Klass and will feature performances by lifetime achievement recipient Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and chart phenomenon Andre Rieu.
