PM says Indo-Kazakh cooperation in technology holds immense promise

Manmohan Singh Astana (Kazakhstan), Apr 15(ANI): Visiting Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Friday said that the prospects for Indo-Kazakh cooperation in areas like science, advanced technologies, nano-technologies and space holds immense promise.

“India has a pool of highly trained manpower in the scientific field and is also in the forefront of advanced technologies like bio technology, nano-technologies and space. We build and launch our own satellites for communications and remote sensing purposes and have been utilizing these satellites successfully,” said Dr. Singh, who arrived in Kazakhstan capital Astana today for his first bilateral visit to the country.

“India and Kazakhstan could cooperate in these fields and India would be happy to share its experiences in this regard. Both countries could also carry out joint research in advanced technology areas and explore possibilities of setting up joint projects in these fields,” he added.

The Prime Minister further said that in the field of communication and information technology, India and Kazakhstan could cooperate in research in high end computing and in training and education of personnel in Kazakhstan in advanced computer technologies.

“We would also be happy to work with Kazakhstan in setting up of Software Technology

Parks in the country,” Dr. Singh said.

Dr. Singh was replying to questions by Kazakh newspapers “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda” and “Egemen Kazakhstan”. (ANI)
