Plus size beauties adorn Vogue Italia’s cover page
June 3rd, 2011 - 8:58 pm ICT by IANSLondon, June 3 (IANS) Fashion magazine Vogue Italia has started a campaign against pro-anorexia websites and has published plus size models on its July issue cover.
The move is part of editor Franca Sozzani’s campaign against the websites - she is collecting signatures for a petition to shut down websites encouraging eating disorders, reports dailymail.co.uk.
In the photographs, rather than hiding their plus sizes in floaty dresses, models Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley have posed in their underwear.
“Fashion has been always blamed as one of the culprits of anorexia, and our commitment is the proof that fashion is ready to get on the front line and struggle against the disorder,” said Sozzani who has promised to feature more plus-sized models in the future.
“Many of the women who have a few extra kilos are especially beautiful and also more feminine,” she added.
